3M™ Window Film Case Study – Cleveland Marriott Downtown - Sunray®

  Sunray® completed another install for the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at 127 Public Square Cleveland Ohio 44114. Sunray® has installed different 3M films at this location over the past 8 years. Films like, 3M Fasara SH2MA ML Milano on the bellhop doors and conference rooms throughout the building. Problem area glass that looked dirty but was spruced up with 3M NV15 underneath the overhang of the entrance way. This was a difficult install because of the outside traffic going in and out of the building.

Most importantly the Heat and Glare problem for the 2nd floor windows in the ball room area are now under control. The 3M Night Vision 15 was used to alleviate the unbearable heat and glare coming from the eastern sky. Customers were complaining how hot and bright this area was in comparison to the rest of the building. Management wanted a film that would match the existing building tinted glass if possible in order to not be able to notice a difference in the glass.

The right company (Sunray®) and the right film (3M NV15) was selected to correct the problem. From the inside and out the 3M NV15 matches the existing tinted glass and reduces the glare and heat. Now ,the 2nd floor ballroom area looks like their never was a problem!

TRI C - One Stop Shop - 3M Fasara (SH2FG AP Arpa) Decorative Install

Replaced Bad Competitive Film (Westlake Ohio) - Install 3M RE50NEARL

  Sunray™ had received a call from a customer who has currently used us in the past, and wanted us to come to their home in Westlake, Ohio that was a model home. They were the 2nd owners of the model home. The previous owners had some special amenities added to their home.

One such amenity was a uv window film. This particular film was installed about 5 years ago and had looked very bad! It was a window film made by a manufacturer other than 3M. The Sunray™ installers had tried to figure out who the manufacturer of the product was because of how cheap the film was and how bad it looked for being on the glass since 2004.

Sunray™ installers did not have to look long to figure out who installed the window film in 2004. They found a sticker from a local competitor.

 I refuse to give my competitor any publicity but believe you can figure out who they might be and that they used a CHEAP product that rusted on the window when they installed the window film on this home in Westlake Ohio.

Sunray™ installed 3M RE50NEARL( Download RE50NEARL) and removed and replaced the bad film that had been applied previously.The homeowners was very pleased and now have a new 3M window film Lifetime Warranty backed by a 25 billion dollar company. Their warranty covers.

Window Film -- Sales Tax

Question: Sunray™ Window Films has been asked why we charge sales tax for window film installation? 

Answer: Window film is taxable because it is a retrofitted item and is removable.

Question: Is paint considered taxable?

Answer: No. The reason is because it is considered permanent.

Question: I have had 2 other quotes from other window film companies and they said they don't have to charge sales tax for window film because its for energy savings. Is this true?

Answer: Absolutely not true. NO! These companies will be in trouble with the Ohio Department of Taxation when they have an audit. Paying for Sales Tax is a monthly responsibility. If those companies choose to not pay for taxes, they will not be in business very long when they get audited.

Question: If I wanted to purchase window film would I get taxed for the purchase?

Answer: Yes. If you wanted to buy a cheap window film at the local Lowes store, you could but would get charged sales tax once you make the purchase.

Question: Who can I contact to find out more information about sales tax?

Answer: Sales tax is different from county to county. Check with the Ohio Department of Taxation or call 1-(800)282-1730.
